Today in a historic decision, the honorable supreme court of India has abolished the section 377and thus provide a big relief to the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community.
In July last year, Supreme Court changed its own decision which bans the gay sex and homosexual activities in India and starts hearing petitions against the ban and said Section 377 is irrational and arbitrary. “LGBT Community has same rights as of any ordinary citizen. Respect for individual choice is the essence of liberty; the LGBT community possesses equal rights under the constitution. Criminalising gay sex is irrational and indefensible,” said Chief Justice Dipak Misra, who headed the five-judge bench hearing the case.
The Supreme Court began hearing petitions against the ban in July, which states that Section 377 refers to ‘unnatural offenses’ and says whoever voluntarily has “carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal”, shall be punished by up to 10 years in jail under the 1861 law.
The United Nation also hails the decision of Supreme Court of India with this special tweet.

Bollywood celebs like Karan Johar also support the SC decision.
