Nutrition scheme for HIV affected children has been started in the Himachal Pradesh. During the state level awareness campaign organized by the State AIDS Control Committee on the occasion of National Youth Day, State Chief Minister Jairam Thakur launched the Nutrition Scheme for children living with HIV positive in the state. He said that this initiative will prove to be effective in providing nutritious food to the nearly 400 HIV positive youths up to the age of 18 years and to increase their immunity.
He said that the state government will provide all possible support for these children to lead a normal life and a healthy life. The Chief Minister said that the State Government has taken another important decision to make HIV Prevention of every pregnant woman mandatory this year so that if any mother is found HIV positive
So this virus did not reach the child. Expressing deep concern over the growing cases of AIDS in the state, which is presently about 5700, the Chief Minister said that there is a need for comprehensive awareness of this disease at the rural level. He called upon the Awareness Campaign to be done in a big way in schools and colleges and in addition to the special emphasis on street events and plays.
